iProtest

Today, I went to protest in front of the UN by the 47th and 1st ave. There were about 30 people, including monks. We shouted slogans both in Burmese and English, and also sang student songs. The slogans are..

"Free Free.... Free Burma"
"Save Save ..... Save Burma"
"Stop Stop..... Killing Monks"
"UN UN...... Take Actions, Take Actions"
"China Russia..... Killing Burma"

Other than that, I have been obsessively on YouTube, CNN, BBC, VOA, and Google and checking news update on Burma. I watched the protesting monks and people on YouTube countless times and then emotional when they are being shot and killed. This picture made me so mad that I wish I could punch the head of those junta.

I also saw the pictures of the lady Suu Kyi today on news. She looks older and pale. She was not wearing any makeup or lipstick. She looked deeply sad and her smile was not a sincere happy smile. I can tell that UN guy did not accomplish anything in Burma. The junta is a master at manipulating the issues, and I believe the UN guy was caught in trap. What I think should happen is that the UN should send peace keepers in Burma around the year. Also, the UN guy should have arranged the meeting with the lady and the junta in his presence.

This is my impression on this UN organization - UN was founded to resolve issues within or between countries through diplomacy so that no countries had to go to war. Unfortunately, the UN is powerless as to what they can do to resolve problems because the UN is a mere puppet of China, Russia, France, UK and US. To date, UN has done nothing significant to promote world peace. And I personally start to question why this even still exists. I do not mean to be so rude. But, the UN has failed to do many things that people are expected them of. For example, UN had no role and power in preventing the Iraq war. UN failed to prevent genocide in Darfur.

What we really need is the people, not the UN. We need the people of the world to come together to change the world we live in. For example, people's efforts to save Katrina victims were impressive. Tsunami relief effort was a good example of how people come together to help the poor, and unfortunate.

Do you think UN can save Burma?
